We believe all our items to be original and we make every effort to describe items as accurately as possible - absolutely NO reproductions (unless explicitly stated).We try our hardest to please and always respond to enquiries at our earliest opportunity. We accept cash and personal cheques (United Kingdom only with guarantee card). Please remember that it is your responsibility to establish the suitability of any item making a purchase. By purchasing goods from us you are entering into a contract between you, the purchaser, and us, Distant Echoes, which is bound by law and in doing so agree to all of out terms & conditions in full.

We may, at our discretion and with an agreed deposit, split the full cost of any goods into a series of payments. Payments must be made every two weeks (unless alternative arrangements are agreed) and the goods remain with, and remain the property of Distant Echoes until the balance is paid in full. If no payment is received within the agreed time, we will attempt to contact you. Should more than 4 weeks elapse since the last payment, we will make one final attempt to contact you. If no payment is still received, then any goods pertaining to this arrangement will be offered for re-sale. Deposits are NOT REFUNDABLE and will not be returned regardless whether or not the arrangement is broken. The arrangement is discretionary and no form of credit facility is offered or implied.

Goods purchased by Distant Echoes will require the seller to provide at least 2 forms of authentic and current identification. Printed statements or utility bills must be less than 3 months old and must have the full postal address as originally attached. We will NOT accept out of date, illegible hand-written or incomplete identification. We will accept:

1. FULL, driving license
2. Utility bills
3. FULL passport - out of date passports are NOT acceptable.
4. Credit card statement or bank statement
5. Pension or DHSS book
6. Armed forces photo ID

We reserve the right to refuse any goods without reason.

Electrical Goods

These items were made to conform with the electrical safety requirements of a past era and my not comply with current modern electrical safety legislation applying to items purchased for domestic use. In particular, some of these items pre-date the requirement for an "all in one" plastic moulded plug & lead to the appropriate EEC/BSI standard. Whilst many collectors will prize the "original" state of their purchase, items more than 10 years old may have perished insulation, loose or faulty wiring, and breaks in the earth return circuit. The history of each item (some dating back more than a century) is uncertain, and some items may have been modified, repaired or restored by unqualified personnel.

Electrical goods are sold with an undertaking from the purchaser that:
1. The item is sold for display purposes only.
2. The purchaser has read, fully understands and agrees to these explicit conditions..

Auctioned items
General
We believe all our items to be original and we make every effort to describe items as accurately as possible - absolutely NO reproductions (unless explicitly stated). We try our hardest to please and always respond to enquiries at our earliest opportunity. Auction win details are usually sent out within 24 hours of the auction finishing (except where this falls on a UK Bank Holiday). All items are shipped uninsured, unless requested otherwise. Items are normally sent the next working day of the payment being cleared (except where this falls on a UK Bank Holiday). We make every effort to pack things carefully for a safe journey, but cannot be held responsible for the post offices mishandling of an item or for delays as we have no control over the postal services. Loss in transit cannot be refunded or compensated for unless the relevant insurance is taken. Please remember that it is the bidder's responsibility to establish the suitability of any item BEFORE placing any bid. If you default on any part of the payment, eBay will be immediately contacted and we will take appropriate steps to recover this cost from you.

Payment
All bidders must complete payment within 5 days. Any cheques received with incorrect payee details will be destroyed as returning cheques causes unnecessary delay.
We accept personal cheques for United Kingdom bidders only.

Bidders outside the United Kingdom
International bidders must complete payment within 5 days of a postal quotation being given.
We will not accept any local currency. Goods will not be released until payment is correct. We appreciate the cost of sending items internationally and will always try to find you the lowest cost option for a reasonable delivery time. This is usually uninsured economy airmail that does not require a signature (delivery estimated 5 days). If you require a specific type of delivery or insurance please contact us.

Wanted Book
You are under NO OBLIGATION to buy any items that you have registered an interest in and your personal details will not be passed to any 3rd party. Your details will remain with us until such time that we notify you of an available item, or you expressly request that your details remain after such notification. You can have your details removed at any time on request either by calling in person, by phone, e-mail, or through this website.

Reservations
We reserve the right to amend, delete or add to these terms & conditions at any time without prior notification. Such reservations apply jointly to Distant Echoes Antiques & Collectables and distantechoes.com.
